Australian Curriculum

To ensure that all of our students experience success, we work closely with our students, parents, outside service providers and highly qualified staff to ensure that each student has a dedicated plan for their learning. These learning plans are flexible and constantly being reviewed and readjusted to ensure that they are achievable for each child.

Our curriculum is based on guidelines outlined by the S.A. Education Department, Commonwealth Government and the Catholic Education Office, following (utilising?) The Australian Curriculum

A Growth Mindset at Emmaus

Students, teachers and families at Emmaus understand the value of a growth mindset. They know the importance of hard work, practice and challenging themselves in order to accomplish great things.

Growth mindset’ is a term used to describe the mindset of those people who understand that intelligence can be developed.  In contrast, a ‘fixed mindset’ describes the mindset of those people who believe that you are either born smart or not.

When students and educators have a growth mindset, they understand that intelligence can be developed. Students focus on improvement instead of worrying about how smart they are. They work hard to learn more and get smarter. Research by Dr Carol Dweck from Stanford University, shows that students with a growth mindset, show greater motivation, achieve better grades and higher test results.
